Alaska Telephone Company

Alaska Telephone Company (ATC) is the largest local exchange carrier in AP&T's family of companies. Originally called National Utilities, Inc., Alaska Telephone Company has grown significantly in the last 15 years.

In 1990 ATC served 1,995 access lines. Over the next 8 years, ATC diligently located un-served areas and built new exchanges (local serving areas) from the ground up.

In 2000, ATC completed an effort to purchase GTE Alaska exchanges in Southeast Alaska. This acquisition was a turning point for ATC since the purchase made ATC responsible to serve 13,000 access lines in 2001.

AP&T Long Distance

AP&T LD was created in 1997 to offer customers a choice in long distance service. Until then, the large LD companies had ignored our communities and discounted services were non-existent. AP&T LD currently provides both residential and business discounted LD services to all Alaskans, focusing on the local communities within our service areas.

Bettles Telephone

Bettles Telephone was purchased in 1993 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of AP&T. BTI serves the northern communities of Bettles, Jim River Camp and Allakaket. The Allakaket exchange was acquired in 1998 from Pacific Telecom Inc. now known as Alaska Communications Systems (ACS). BTI serves approximately 177 access lines. Unfortunately due to the high cost of bandwidth, advanced data services are not available in these areas.

North Country Telephone

North Country Telephone was purchased in 1994 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of AP&T. NCTI serves Eagle Alaska, which a long rich history related to the Gold rush and the Yukon River. NCTI serves approximately 200 access lines and has dial-up Internet access available.
