As you can see, we’re pretty excited about the newest addition to AP&T’s Prince of Wales Island vehicle fleet.

EV is a 100% Electric 2017 Chevy Bolt with an EPA range of 238 miles on a single charge.

Each time we fuel EV with POW’s Renewable Hydroelectric Kilowatts, AP&T will be collecting data on EV’s performance and costs versus gas powered vehicles here on the island. EV’s early metrics as they relate to our driving habits and weather conditions since EV’s arrival on POW January 30th.  The caveat associated with these figures being that between 20 & 25% of the energy being used this past month has gone to heating the cabin during the cold weather. (reducing MPGe)

As the weather warms and less energy for heating is used, we anticipate the numbers will improve to where you would need to get 50 mpg with gas vehicle to match energy cost.

One of the upsides however is the vehicle it replaced was getting 15/mpg and costing $.24 cents per mile just for fuel alone!
